Support our Film!
We are Crowdfunding
Excited to be on the road toward making this independent feature film, Days with Dandekar, a reality.
If you’ve been following my journey, you know it’s been a long one. I first wrote the screenplay over ten years ago, and it was in Tribeca All Access and the Film Independent Screenwriting Lab. I got a lot of feedback in those labs, and I went in circles to revise the script, and ultimately ended up putting it away. I had also tried various ways of getting it made, but nothing really came together.
Then in the pandemic, I decided I had to find a way. I spent time re-writing the script, building our team, and talking to a lot of people about the next next steps. Not easy, but also very exciting to here actually doing it.
I’m sure if you are a filmmaker, you are familiar with crowdfunding, and I am sure you know people doing it. If not, you have to know that it’s not easy, and requires a tremendous amount of pushing and hustling and engaging online and on social media.
Much of the support really comes from a person’s own network! And when you write your friends, you don’t want to be annoying, but you hope they’ll support you in any way they can, no matter what the amount, because again, every bit helps, and the each time you see someone rooting for you, it’s a bit of a morale boost. What’s always fun is to reconnect with people, and the excitement others share for seeing the project come to life!
I am so very honored that Iqbal Theba is playing RK Dandekar. He’s a prolific television actor, and played the iconic role of Principal Figgins on Glee, and has been on many. other shows, including the recent, Deli Boys. Playing RK Dandekar will be his first leading role!
The stress of fundraising is it’s own deal, which if you talk to me some time, I can tell you more about. But in the same vein, it’s wonderful to be here, making it happen. We are part of Seed & Spark’s Asian American creators Renaissance Rally which we are excited about.
If you can support us, I trying hope you will. Even just following our campaign is hugely helpful! Thank you!
